The Priest at Times Square 42nd Street.
Not my voice:
The priest is sick today, I suppose. He was not heard in the tunnel. The echo sounded a bit hollow only with footsteps.
I've always wondered how he feels preaching in a subway station. People are too busy to stop, and he might as well yell to the air.
I wouldn't like it. It takes courage to be comfortable to be ignored. Or it takes a strong numbing faith to reorient oneself and hope that people listen, if that is not for money. Religion is the best medication for desperation. Money is the best solution for disinclination.
What if he is fired? Out of the ignorances did the church realize he's not doing a good job or did himself say fuck it? Seeing endless unintentional people pass by must have put some anesthesia to the nerves.
Maybe they are not human beings anymore? Repetition kills existence.
Update:
3/29/2022: The priest is no longer there.
4/4/2022: The priest is back. Today he said "if you got Jesus then you don't worry." Perhaps one day I will tell him, that it really makes a difference.
